1. What type of batteries does Sager Power Systems manufacture?

Sager Power Systems specializes in the manufacture of custom batteries for many markets. We use cells of many chemistries including Li Ion, Li Polymer, Li FePO4, Li Primary, SLA, NiMH, NiCd as well as newer emerging technologies. 2. Where are your batteries assembled?
All of our batteries are assembled at our state of the art facility in Lisle, IL, a suburb of Chicago.

3. Are you ISO certified?

Yes, we are certified to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2004 standards. Certification was authorized by globally recognized TUV Rheinland.

4. What information do you need in order to design a battery?
We have included a design input form that begins the design process: Request a Quote. Sager Power Systems recognizes that not all the information requested is known initially. Rest assured, our team of Sales Engineers will work with you to develop a product that is of the highest performance, quality and safety standards.

5. Will our Engineers be able to discuss project specifics with the Sager Power Systems Engineers?
Absolutely! We encourage open dialogue between our Engineers and Clients throughout the design cycle.

6. How does Sager Power Systems stay up to date with existing and emerging technologies?
Sager Power Systems takes great pride in the relationships we have developed within the industry. Our Engineers participate in training sessions given by our suppliers and attend all the premier battery forums and exhibitions. It’s all about networking.

7. I hear a lot about Li Polymer cells and batteries. What are their advantages and disadvantages?
The concept behind the Li Polymer battery was to be able to create a product that had a flexible form factor and was not bound by standard cell formats. In addition, it was designed to be lightweight, with improved safety features. Most of the popular tablets use Li Polymer cells. This ability to create virtually any size cell comes with some limitations (as compared with Li Ion). They have a higher cost to energy ratio, lower energy densities, and decreased cycle life. Manufacturers of these cells have focused on extremely high volume clients allowing for efficiencies of scale. Sager Power Systems will assist you in making technology/chemistry decisions that are ideal for your application.

8. I hear a lot about Li Iron Phosphate batteries. What are their advantages and disadvantages?

The key advantages to Li Iron Phosphate (Li FePO4) is high current/peak power ratings, long cycle life and improved safety and environmental impact. It’s these advantages that make this chemistry ideal for power tool applications. The disadvantages include a lower energy density (as compared with Li Ion), and charge voltages that do not allow for direct replacement with Li Ion systems. 9. It is my understanding that all Lithium batteries must be tested to UN Manual of Tests and Criteria Part III Subsection 38.3. Is this true?

The packaging and documentation requirements for batteries that have not passed these tests are significant and will quickly outweigh the cost of testing. 10.Where do I go to have UN Manual of Tests and Criteria Part III Subsection 38.3 testing completed?

The simple answer is Sager Power Systems. We use an independent test facility to do the testing. As a service to our clients, we coordinate all activities required to get you through the stringent requirements.
